Pheu Thai warns PM against reshuffling Cabinet just for Sanan's son
The Pheu Thai Party Sunday warned Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva against reshuffling
the Cabinet just to allow Sanan to hand over the his Cabinet seat to his son,
Siriwat Kachornprasart, saying a Cabinet seat is not a private belonging of anyone.
Pheu Thai spokesman Prompong Nopparit said Abhisit should consider reshuffling
the Cabinet to bring in qualified persons to solve the social and economic problems
instead of reshuffling the Cabinet just to allow Sanan to hand over his position to his son.
"If the prime minister reshuffles the Cabinet just for Sanan, he will be regarded
as taking actions to help associates without taking the people's problems into account," Prompong said.
The Pheu Thai spokesman said opinion surveys found that the Abhisit government
had still failed to tackle economic crises, drug and social problems as well as falling
to put an end to the violence in the deep South.
He said the prime minister should reshuffle the Cabinet to bring in qualified
persons to solve these problems instead of trying to avoid the censure debate
to be held by the opposition early next year.

Deputy Prime Minister Sanan Kachornprasart on Thursday said he was willing to forego his job in order to pave way for the appointment of his son in a ministerial portfolio at the next Cabinet reshuffle.

Sanan said he already served three times as deputy prime minister and wanted to step aside for younger politicians.
