Her er en artikel om nogen der har besøget Koh Chang.
Thanks to the endless long weekends that occur every May in Thailand, we jumped in our car and headed to the stunning island of Koh Chang in Trat province.
After a two-and-a-half hour ride to Chantaburi, we crashed there overnight to make sure we got an early ferry the next morning. From Chantaburi it’s an hour’s drive to Ao Thammachat in Laem Ngop, where giant car ferries regularly make the 30-minute trip across to Thailand’s second-largest island.
Koh Chang’s western coastline is a collection of separate beaches, each with their own character. At the north end is White Sands, a developed resort with a small but bustling centre and some great beaches. It’s an especially good place to catch the sunsets, which provide a natural, daily spectacle as purple, red and orange hues paint the sky.
We stayed at a boutique place called Keeree Ele, next to the Irish-themed bar and hotel Paddy’s Palms. Paddy’s may be slightly cheaper but Keeree Le had some nice touches, such as the colourful, somewhat abstract art that’s painted on just about every ceiling and wall.
Heading south, the beaches include Kae Bae, a fun little place with plenty of bars and restaurants, and a decent little beach. Farther south is the backpacker retreat of Lonely Beach, a rocky spot that’s populated with hammocks and else.
