Vil gerne vise hvordan der ser ud i bkks slum.
Fotos er hr browns og stammer fra vores tur rund 2010.
The mother had nearly finished cooking the daughter's dinner. The cats had nearly finished eating theirs. And the father, sitting just to my left, was watching a pair of polar bears feasting on a bloody carcass in the snow on discovery channel.
He wanted to put on a shirt before I photographed him. "Pom!" he said, looking down. "Thin!"
The guy on the right was banging out the rhythm and howling along to a song he'd composed for my benefit. "Thailand Land of Sa-mile", it went, "Farang him like too muuuuch. Have sexy lady mak mak. Farang yim dee, very good". He sang it twice.

Patpong har altid hentet deres personale herfra slummen.
In my two hour (completely uninvited and nosy) photopoke through various people's territories and houses and lives, I was offered two cigarettes, three glasses of whisky, one bottle of beer, at least five separate dinners, and a wife. I had my shoulder squeezed by an eighty year old man, my leg squeezed by an 80 year old lady, and my nose poked by a one yr old. Only four people out of about 45 declined the offer of a photo, and only three wondered if I might want to pay for the privilege (with one specifying that his fee would be 10 baht - take it or leave it). Oh the humanity, you might be thinking. But also, when they tell you "it's all back to normal, really", well.. it kind of makes me think the opposite. Love indeed.

It's a decent home in its way, with all mod cons and trimmings. But it only has one really comfy place to sit.
This funeral procession passed as I was tying up my bike.
In the very depths of the slum, there's ALWAYS an internet cafe and games place. And in this one, everyone was playing war (the little guy in the yellow even brought a machine gun with him to watch with).
His house faces a wide road with another, even wider road running on a concrete bridge above it. I had to make sure a truck didn't rumble past as I clicked the shutter cos it would have completely obscured the sunlight.

Must have been someone special who died, I thought. A truck full of chanting monks at the front of the cortege must cost a fair bit.
There are six of us living here now", the man told me. "Eight years ago when I first came, it was only me and I could do whatever I wanted".
The first of the two 80 years old I met. I thought he wanted 80 baht when he held up 8 fingers cos he certainly didn't look anything like that old
The second 80 year old. She had a fall a week ago and "it really hurts", she told me. "I'm old, I'm all alone, but it's okay".
A glue sniffer - though he didn't want me to photograph his plastic substance bag. Another cancer, I wondered ? I might sniff glue if i was 20 and had cancer on my shoulder.

A decent lunch and a drink with friends, with a kung fu movie for afters. At one point, this old boy put on a powerranger mask and attacked me with a flashing sword.
when I looked back through the photos, it seemed like there was something red and something yellow in almost all of them. Or if not, lots of grey. Sounds like a pretty decent analysis to me.
The paths are mostly very thin inside this neighbourhood; and it's dark and relatively cool, too. Here, though, there was a gap, a kind of courtyard. Nice, a bit of space, and some sky.

"Jet duen leow", she told me. "Already seven months!". I wondered if her baby would be born into the same country it had been made in.
Convert to greyscale and it could be, say, May 1992.
Der er masser af historie herfra.
