Poles falling down have become a daily occurrence due to various reasons from road accidents to weather hazards.
This month, there have been at least three separate incidents in Bangkok alone.
While there are no official data on how much the state has spent on re-erecting these poles, we can safely assume that the maintenance cost is quite high.
Apart from costing the country a lot of money, the problem is a nuisance for people living in the area, causing blackouts, traffic jams and in several cases loss of lives.
The helter-skelter and tangled cables are also unsightly.
Several years ago, there were discussions of putting power lines underground and budgets were allocated for the project and yet this remains a dream with complaints about falling poles piling up each year.
Do you think maybe it's time somebody come up with a solution to this problem?
