Live Aid, en af de mest berømte koncerter nogensinde, bliver til en musical, skriver BBC.

Koncerten, der egentlig bestod af to samtidige koncerter på henholdsvis stadionet Wembley i London og John F. Kennedy Stadium i Philadelphia i 1985, blev oprindeligt arrangeret til støtte for hungersnød i Etiopien. I alt 1,5 milliarder mennesker verden over så med på fjernsynet, da blandt andet Bob Dylan, Led Zeppelin, The Who og ikke mindst Queen gav koncert.

Musicalen, der i første omgang skal spille i London, bliver til med opbakning fra organisationen bag den oprindelige begivenhed, Band Aid Charitable Trust, der modtager 10 procent af billetsalget.

Elton John performing 'Can I Get A Witness' at Live Aid in front of 72,000 people in Wembley Stadium, London on the 13th July, 1985. The event was organised by Sir Bob Geldof, Midge Ure and Harvey Goldsmith to raise funds for the Ethiopian famine disaster. Broadcast across the world via one of the largest satellite link-ups of all time, the concerts were seen by around 40% of the global population.
